Risk response

Risk response (or treatment) is the decision on how to handle a risk. The four classic options are avoid, reduce/mitigate, share/transfer, and accept.

The right response depends on the residual risk relative to your risk appetite. Reducing risk usually means adding or strengthening an internal control; sharing often means insurance or contracts.
